Not “bright indirect light”, which is what most plant listings mean when they say low light. These tolerate a genuinely dim room: a north window, an interior corridor, an office with no window at all. The ZZ and the snake plant are the two that will not merely survive but stay looking the same, which matters more than growth if the plant is there to furnish a room. The aglaonema is the unusual one — it holds pink and cream variegation in low light, where almost every other variegated plant reverts to plain green within weeks.
